Google One, iCloud, Amazon Photos, Dropbox... the monthly fees add up quickly, and you're paying indefinitely for access to data and content you already own. A home server changes that equation. You buy the hardware once, and from then on you're in control.
We build home servers using Unraid — a flexible, powerful server operating system designed for home and small-office use. Each service runs in its own isolated container, making the system easy to manage, expand, and maintain over time. The hardware is specified and built to your needs and budget, from a compact box that sits quietly in a cupboard to something more substantial if your requirements demand it.
Here are some of the services we commonly set up:
- Immich — a self-hosted replacement for Google Photos. Your entire photo and video library on your own hardware, with automatic backup from your phone. No monthly fee, no storage limits, no privacy trade-offs.
- Plex — a media server for your digital collection. Organise your movies, TV shows, home videos, and music in one place and watch on any device, at home or away.
- Automated media library management — keep your digital collection organised automatically with smart naming, metadata, and artwork.
- Backup and file sync — automated backups of your computers, phones, and important documents to your own server, not someone else's.

Home servers also integrate neatly with Home Assistant — monitor disk health, storage levels, and server uptime directly from your smart home dashboard. Paired with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), the server can gracefully shut down during a power outage, protecting your data.
Getting started is straightforward. We begin with a free 15-minute call to understand what you're after and whether a home server is the right fit. From there, we can discuss hardware options and provide a quote for the build and setup. For simpler setups, we also offer a flat rate of $110 per hour plus a travel fee from $20 depending on location.
